About
Carolina Vega is the Science Officer for the Caribbean at ICARS, coordinating the implementation of the People-Centred Caribbean AMR Research and Innovation Project, delivered in collaboration with the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and funded by the UK Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). She works with ten countries in the region to coordinate efforts for antimicrobial resistance (AMR) mitigation through applied research, behaviour change approach, and locally driven solutions.
Based in Denmark and originally from Ecuador, Carolina brings over a decade of experience coordinating multi-country projects in public health, resilience building, and emergency response interventions across Europe, the Americas, and the Caribbean. Her academic background in Biology, with a specialisation in Ecology and Sustainable Development, combined with a master’s degree in Disaster Management from the University of Copenhagen, underpins her interdisciplinary and practical approach to implementation.
