Denmark’s Minister of Health Ida Auken has appointed Henrik Wegener as a high-level representative for antimicrobial resistance, a role created to drive global action on AMR by bringing Danish experiences and solutions to the fore.
Henrik is currently Professor and Programme Director at the National Food Institute and has also been the Chairman of the Board of ICARS since 2021. He will represent Denmark at relevant conferences and high-level meetings internationally and will also be promoting ICARS’ work as part of his new remit.
Responding to the news, Helle Engslund Krarup, Executive Director at ICARS, said: “I warmly congratulate Henrik Wegener on his appointment as Denmark’s high-level representative for antimicrobial resistance. The appointment reflects the strong priority Denmark gives to AMR and its longstanding leadership in advancing action nationally and internationally. Through Henrik’s role as Chair of the ICARS Board of Directors, I have seen first-hand the deep scientific expertise and determination he brings to turning political commitments into practical action. He will be a strong voice for Denmark and for the sustained international cooperation needed to address the rising threat of AMR.”
