Dr. Kristina Osbjer is a veterinary epidemiologist with over 20-years of working in research, policy and capacity strengthening. Her experience spans from mitigation of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) to control of zoonotic and high impact transboundary animal diseases, climate change, food safety and One Health collaboration, primarily in low and middle-income countries. As Director of Science and Programmes, she leads the growing Science and Programmes Team in Copenhagen and Nairobi, oversees the ICARS-supported project portfolio with adapted interventions and scalable solutions to tackle AMR across the One Health sectors and advocates for ICARS’ vision and mission on the global stage.
Kristina holds a degree in veterinary medicine (DVM) and a PhD in Epidemiology and Veterinary Public Health from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. In the past, she has served as Technical Advisor and Team Lead on One Health for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations with postings in Asia and Africa and has worked closely with governments and the Quadripartite on governance and control of AMR and infectious diseases. She is also affiliated to the University of KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa as Honorary Associate Professor.
