Dr. Junxia Song is FAO Deputy Chief Veterinarian and Chief of the One Health and Disease Control Branch at FAO Headquarters, where she leads FAO’s work on animal health, One Health, transboundary animal diseases (TADs), and antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
Since joining FAO in 2018, she has held leadership and technical positions at country, regional, and headquarters levels. Prior to FAO, she spent more than 20 years with China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, contributing to national animal health policies and programmes.
With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Song has extensive expertise to advance the prevention and control of TADs, zoonoses, and AMR, while promoting One Health approaches in agrifood systems. She holds a PhD in Veterinary Public Health from China Agricultural University.
