Dr Danilo Lo Fo Wong is a global health expert with close to three decades of leadership in antimicrobial resistance (AMR), including 18 years with the World Health Organization (WHO). As the Head of Human Health at ICARS, he supports the development and implementation of Human Health projects in LMICs. Danilo holds a PhD in Veterinary Epidemiology from the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen, Denmark, and a Master’s in Biology from Wageningen University, The Netherlands. Prior to this position, he performed research at the University of Guelph, Canada, the Animal Health Service, The Netherlands, the Royal and Veterinary University, Denmark, and the Danish Zoonosis Centre, Denmark. When joining WHO, he focused his work on building partnerships and supporting countries with national AMR action plan development and implementation, facilitating intersectoral coordination, strengthening AMR surveillance, promoting antimicrobial stewardship and translating evidence into action.
