Dr. Francesca Chiara is a Science Partnership Advisor in the Partnerships, Communication and Governance Team at ICARS. In this role, she works with international partners and donors to enhance ICARS’ capacity to deliver impactful research projects and foster global collaboration to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR).
With over a decade of experience in AMR, policy advocacy, and strategic partnerships, Francesca has held positions with leading organizations including the Centre for Infectious Disease Research and Policy, the World Health Organization, Wellcome, and the South Centre. Her work has focused on securing grants, managing research portfolios, and driving high-impact collaborations across the AMR landscape. Francesca also serves as Chair of the Board for the AMR Narrative, an initiative dedicated to strengthening patient advocacy and representation in the global AMR dialogue.
She holds a PhD from University College London and a Master’s in Public Health from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her interdisciplinary expertise spans AMR governance, health systems strengthening, and access to essential medicines.
