Integrating gender and equity in AMR intervention and implementation research projects in LMICs
This poster, originally presented at the World One Health Congress in 2024, shares plans for integrating gender and equity in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) interventions and implementation research in low- and middle income countries (LMICs).
Project overview
Five human and animal health projects will integrate a gender and equity lens by piloting the Practical Pathways document and receiving one-on-one support from a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on gender and equity. The initiative anticipates that the projects will adopt gender sensitive and/or gender responsive approaches in their workplans.
Overall the initiative will:
- Pilot the Practical Pathways document,
- Inform future research on how a gender and equity lens can improve the implementation of context-specific AMR interventions to enhance project uptake and sustainability,
- Help to demonstrate the social and cultural complexities when developing and implementing AMR intervention research,
- Document and communicate lessons learned to help understand how a gender and equity lens can be integrated into SMR research in human and animal health settings,
- Inform further scale-up of the Practical Pathways document.
